(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, November 12, 2012 ) Santa Fe, NM -- When it's the season to give gifts, that does wonders for your creativity. This time of year, Waxlander Gallery and Sculpture Garden is bursting to the seams with holiday spirit—and art. Waxlander's “Holiday Aglow” will feature new, full-size work from all of the gallery's artists. It's a celebration of a phenomenal year on Canyon Road, with high hopes for the year to come.
Phyllis Kapp will present a new series of her ecstatic, expressionistic watercolors. Though the weather's getting colder by the day in Santa Fe, in Kapp's version of O'Keeffe Country those signature egg yolk suns shine all year long.
You can feel more of a chill in the air in the latest paintings of Marshall Noice, but nothing can dampen his characteristically vivid palette. The artist, who imbues his landscapes with passionate emotion, brings out the most fiery oranges and reds of fall and the intense blues of shady winter days. The bare trees may sit in silent slumber, but Noice still portrays them with wonder.
In the work of Andree Hudson, the painter seeks to capture those moments of pause that all of us treasure during the holiday season. In her portraits of Westerners, sitters look off into the distance or down in their laps as they ponder the great existential mysteries. You can feel their bubbling joy for life in Hudson's striking colors.
Matthew Higginbotham revels in the beauty of the changing seasons, and it shows in the glowing light of his acclaimed paintings. He seeks to capture the spirit—and shifting moods—of each season. “Like good music there are contrasting notes, and that's one of the things I explore,” says Higginbotham. “Each season offers up its soul.”
“Holiday Aglow” will also show new work from Patrick Matthews, Christopher Owen Nelson, Suzanne Donazetti, Bruce King and all of Waxlander's phenomenal artists. The exhibit runs from November 20th through January 1st with a reception on Friday, November 23rd from 5-7 pm.
