Friends Gather for Tribute to Late Camden Town Resident reports Camden Town

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, November 25, 2012 ) London, U.K -- A number of friends and acquaintances of the late Mick Doheny gathered this week to pay tribute to the late pub and nightclub owner, who passed away last week.

On November 8, 2012, Doheny was found by police lying unconscious at the corner of Royal College Street and Pratt Street in Camden. He was treated on the scene by paramedics, but he was later pronounced dead at 4:50 a.m.

A man and two women had been arrested by police in relation to the case but were later released. Police are designating Doheny’s death as “unexplained.” However, police state “violence is not believed to be a factor.”

An inquest into Doheny’s death was initiated on November 13 at the St. Pancras Coroner Court,

Doheny, was well known among the denizens of Camden Town, many of whom he sat with, drank with, and generally hung around with.

Among those paying tribute to Doheny was Dublin Castle landlord Henry Conlon, who said, “Mick Doheny, landlord of The World’s End pub and the Underworld nightclub, was one of the few remaining traditional Irish publicans that remain in Camden Town,” Conlon said.

“He loved the town, he loved its people, and he lived the experience of it as much as he possibly could right up until his final moments last Thursday when Camden Town lost another of its infamous characters.”

Doheny was a strong figure in the local Irish community, and often donated much of his time to helping overcome many community issues.

Among his many local duties was that of chairman of Camden’s Inner London Licensees Association (CILLA), where he often heard the issues and problems had by restaurant and bar operators in Camden Town.

While heading the CILLA, he lent his support to the Camden Town Unlimited order so that they could establish the Business Improvement District, which helped reduce crime in and around Camden Town.
