Nurse Cano received her college education at King Delta College and received her Registered Nurse Certificate along with an Associates Arts Degree.  She then got a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Stanislaus State University. She continued her advance education receiving a Master's of Science of Nursing in Leadership at Grand Canyon University. She has numerous licenses and certification in the field of medicine. This includes CPR, ACLS, Medical Surgical Certification, and California Community College Instructor Credential for Nursing.

Nurse Cano is a Professor at the San Joaquin Delta College Nursing Program in Stockton, California. She has been the full-time first line supervisor and flow pool department manager at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton California since the 1970’s.

Nurse Cano was selected for the Advisory Board for her many leadership skills. She has an amazing leadership style and has been devoted to hospital staff for over three decades. She promotes the good of the hospital patients and the community for providing proper training information and opportunities.  She has a strong belief in treating staff with openness, consistency and respect. She is a promoter of emotional intelligence, creative problem solving, conflict resolution, listening, coaching, collaborating, and team building. Her decades as a first line supervisor at a busy medical center has confirmed her experience in this realm. She has a personal commitment to lifelong learning and a passion for participating in the formation of the new wellness center to better educate the community in reducing the number of children and adults with obesity and diabetes.
