Godaddy Security Allows Hackers To Steal 6 Domains From A SEO Consultant Account

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 25, 2013 ) Greenville, SC -- On September 10 , 2013 Seo consulting company Upstate 411 LLC conducted a business transaction with a client that allowed it to acquire over $100,000 in domains. The client was sold the domains in December 2012 yet retained Upstate 411 LLC SEO Consulting company out of Greenville, South Carolina to continue performing Seo services to maintain the traffic and profitability of these domains. Due to some personal situations the client allowed Upstate 411 LLC to regain access to the previously sold domains along with new ones. Upon taking over the clients Godaddy account Ayanna Tillman, Ceo of Upstate 411 LLC began the process of removing a domain that had a problem rendering correctly through Godaddys registrar and that was when a series of events that resulted in 6 domains becoming stolen from the newly acquired Godaddy account.

When asked to recount the events Ayanna Tillman stated: " I am knowledgeable about ensuring security is maintained properly online when dealing with online connections. The computer used to access the Godaddy account has the spyware protection malwarebytes and antivirus protection Nod 32. What I believe happened is that when I put in the request to download all the authorization codes for the domain accounts I believe that Godaddy security was compromised on their end. How is it I put in a request to transfer a domain from the newly acquired account and Godaddy denies the request of transfer due to the domain privacy that was attached to it. The next thing I know I receive a notice from Godaddy stating someone is transferring the domain out somewhere else."
When asked what did he do next after receiving the notice Ayanna stated:" After I received the notice I promptly contacted Godaddy on Friday September 13, 2013 and talked to a rep who then informed me that he did not see the domain being transferred and that it probably was just a system error generating the response. I asked was he sure and he said the domain was still inside of the account with nothing showing its being transferred out. The next day when I checked the Godaddy account I discovered the domain stolen from Godaddy. I filed a report then the next day 3 more domains were taken which was amazing to me. After that day and despite changing passwords on the account 1 last domain was taken the next following day. Upon contacting Godaddy they seem to have no answers and then they informed me to contact undo@godaddy.com by email and they will not provide you a telephone number to talk to no one from that department. Its incredible the lackadaisical response you get from this company. When I did some research online I discovered that this has happened to other clients of Godaddy in the past. The thief pulls the domain from your Godaddy account and then put it inside of another Godaddy account. Since the domain resides on Godaddy client account they will not provide you any additional information about the thief. Online articles by others talking about this issue seem to imply that Godaddy will not take action on your behalf to recover your domain and they will refer you to Icann to fight by yourself to try to get your property back. Due to the average person not possessing the resources and time to fight the case legally, the thief usually wins by default and its business as usual at Godaddy. It is my hope that even in the event the same outcome happens to us that current customers are warned about Godaddys practices as well as push them to take Domain security at their company seriously. It would be different if they would force the thief to provide proof of a real receipt to validate the transfer when it's reported as a theft."
