Unexpected Packages Cause Chaos for Highway Drivers in Atlanta

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, February 13, 2015 ) Atlanta, GA -- A major highway was shut down due to a package being noticed a bridge. The police department in Atlanta, GA discovered the suspicious package affixed to the bridge. Before checking what was in it, they shut down the highway and has the bomb squad blow up the package. Upon discovery, it was found that the package was only a camera placed by some local art students who were completing a group project involving solargraphy.

In the meantime, that whole section of the highway was shut down for three hours while the police completed the investigation.

A similar incident occurred in Hapeville, GA. The police department also had to stop moving vehicles and a train and in the process. The investigation even lead to the evacuation of some local residents. The Hapeville Police Department announced in a statement, “Unfortunately, the investigation caused a minor traffic delay but the safety of our citizens must always come first”.

Apparently, after the police contacted the university in regards to the project, they stated that the project did not consist of placing a camera in a public place. Duck taping a package underneath a bridge above a busy highway may not have been the best idea.

When major roads are shut down, traffic is at its worst, and this can cause more than a simple inconvenience. Impatient, confused, and rushed drivers are big cause for concern, especially in a city like Atlanta – which Forbes.com named one of the worst cities for commuters. Bad traffic can cause bad accidents.

In situations like these, one hit is all it takes to manifest a major pile-up, leaving many victims unexpectedly injured.
