Sex and the City hits London - TheMoveChannel.co.uk

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 08, 2009 ) London, UK - There is talk that the sequel to the hugely successful Sex and the City film will be partly shot in London – whisking Carrie Bradshaw and her pals out of the Big Apple and into the big smoke…

Sex and the City is one of the most popular TV shows ever – appealing to millions of woman and quite a few men with its heady cocktail of fashion, relationships and friendship.

But the sequel to the original movie will reflect the current economic climate and be more in tune with the credit crunch, rather than the flaunting of endless cash displayed in the first one, according to inside sources.

But Carrie Bradshaw in Primark not Prada and in Argos not Armani just doesnÂ’t sound right. One of the reasons it has become so popular is its shameless enjoyment of labels, swish real estate and endless eating out in ManhattanÂ’s hotspots.

There is also talk that key scenes from the new film will be shot in London – possibly shooting this winter for six weeks.

A source gave fans food for thought for the sequel, saying, “The sequel will include key scenes of Carrie and Mr Big in London.

“Mr Big loses a lot of money and takes a job in London, living alone in a one-bedroom apartment. Big gets really low and ends up in bed with another woman. After she leaves him Carrie discovers she is pregnant.”

One has to question why London was seen as a good place to escape to after a brush with the credit crunch – UK properties aren’t known to be any more affordable than New York is.

Chris Noth, who plays Mr Big, was largely in favour of shooting the sequel in London.

“I think it would be a great place to make it,” he said.

The new film will be released on May 28th, 2010, almost exactly two years after the release of the first film, which raked in more than £300 million worldwide.

Cynthia Nixon - who plays lawyer Miranda Hobbes - has her owns dreams for the sequelÂ’s plot.

She said, “I would love to see Miranda and Carrie and Charlotte and Samantha all go off on some wild madcap adventure somewhere.”

Sisters are doing it for themselves

Big Brother winner and TVÂ’s favourite builder Craig Phillips has launched Chix&Mortar, which offers weekend DIY courses across the UK for women alongside an informative website to help provide information and advice on DIY tasks and building and decorating products and services.

Mr Phillips says, “We want to help women become independent in diagnosing and tackling problems in their home – so we’re teaching the basic skills of DIY and decorating in female friendly environments.

“In these current times people do want to try to undertake more themselves rather than have to pay someone else to do things.”

Training modules cover a range of basic diagnostics and skills in plumbing, tiling, laying floors, plastering, painting and decorating as well as covering health, safety and general tool care. Graduating participants will be issued with a certificate.
