New York Acting School Students Need to Learn the Business Side of Acting

(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 25, 2011 ) New York City, NY -- Aspiring actors certainly have their work cut out for them. Not only must they learn their lines, they also have to come to grips with all the different aspects of working in the acting profession. While many young people dream of seeing their names up in lights, few are prepared for the real challenges of pursuing a career on the stage or screen.

The class that recently graduated from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA), and all previous alumni, has a head start on the crowd. At NYCDA, one of the foremost acting schools New New York has to offer, the programs are specifically designed to give students fully rounded training. This means, in addition to providing a thorough education in the various techniques of stage, TV, film and voiceover work, the Conservatory makes sure students graduate equipped with the business skills necessary to make it in this highly competitive industry.

As befits one of the nationÂ’s leading performing arts schools, NYCDA shows its young actors-in-training how to establish themselves as business entities, both literally and figuratively, and to market themselves effectively. Students also learn how to write a resume and choose a headshot photo, and then send these out to casting directors.

Like graduates of other acting schools, former NYCDA students enter a competitive field and must audition for roles. Thanks to the preparation they have received, many find work in films, television productions or in the theater. Others are hired as TV anchors, or to do voiceovers or commercials. There are many NYCDA alumni who have found success in popular television shows, movies and commercials or on the stage.

Many schools for acting turn out fine actors, but not all of them teach students to think of acting as a business as well as an art and craft. This is one of the reasons why NYCDA is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to learn how to make a living as an actor.

More information about the programs offered at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts is available at sft.edu or on (888) 645-0030 Ext. 4080.
