(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 17, 2012 ) Santa Cruz, CA -- Lee Holden, an internationally acclaimed instructor in meditation and Qi Gong, has just announced that his next Qi Gong teacher training and intensive program will take place on March 19th at the Santa Cruz Chi Center.
Qi Gong is a practice that has emerged from Chinese medicine, martial arts and philosophy. The practice typically involves rhythmic movements, meditation and breathing to reduce stress, sooth chronic conditions, and promote all round health and well being. Lee Holden was first introduced to the practice after experiencing injuries that nearly sidelined his Varsity Soccer career at the University of California, Berkeley. After being impressed at how quickly the techniques prompted his return to action, Qi Gong has been his passion ever since.
The one year teacher training program will not only certify participants to teach Qi Gong, but will be a journey into life force energy (Qi) that will lead to an awakening of the self, according to Lee Holden, a certified herbalist, author, and regular fixture on over 105 PBS stations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
“Qi Gong is a very exciting and emerging field in the United States that combines physical fitness, spiritual practice, and mind/body integration,” said Holden. “Whether you are a therapist, physiologist, or personal trainer you can use these exercises to create internal balance and harmony for you and your clients.”
The full program includes 4 levels of training and certification, and will take place over 4 weeks throughout the year. Each week focuses on one of the main facets of Qi Gong practice.
The following is a brief summary of the curriculum for the upcoming Qi Gong teacher training program:
* Week 1 (March 19th – March 25th) – Level 1 Certification: History and Basics of Qi Gong; Styles of Qi Gong, Energy Enlivening Warm Ups; Qi Gong stretching, Flow and Postures.
* Week 2 (June 18th – June 24th) – Level 1 Certification is handed out at the end of Week 2, after covering topics that include Chinese Medicine Theory, Qi Gong Meditation, the Inner Smile, Healing Sounds, and Sexual Energy, Life Force Energy, and Spiritual Energy Practices and Transformations.
* Week 3 (August 27th – September 2nd) – Level 2 Certification (optional): Medical Qi Gong; Qi Gong for Self Healing; Qi Gong for Healing Others; Qi Gong Prescriptions; Qi Gong Energy Work on Clients; Exercises for Emotional Balance.
* Week 4 (November 5th – November 11th) – Level 3 Certification (optional): Tai Chi and Qi Gong Basics; History of Tai Chi; Relationship between Qi Gong and Tai Chi; Tai Chi/Qi Gong Stationary, Walking and Short Moving Forms.
