STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA/November 27, 2012 /Newswire/ -- Viratech Corp. (OTC: VIRA), the first open source biotech research social network platform, announced today that Mr. Garrett Bolks has joined its Advisory Committee for Business Development.

Mr. Bolks graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a major in marketing.  Garrett began his professional career in the medical industry at American Hospital Supply, where he worked for 18 years with the primary focus on the “OR” (Operating Room). He was recruited by SRI/Surgical Express in 1998 and went on to be the founder and President and CEO of All-Med Industries which focused on patient safety in the operating room. 

His vision for the new towel, named the “D-Tec” towel was a big success. This concept has now become the standard of care in the industry. Garrett was also the co-founder of the William Garrett Company with the primary emphasis on providing protective apparel and N95 masks to Taiwan and China during SARS. During this time he also developed a line of exam gloves called “SureCare” and captured all of the HealthTrust Purchasing Group along with numerous other hospital groups.  

In 2003, Mr. Bolks was appointed a member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Patient Safety Task Force. He continued his pursuit of safety related items for the operating room, and became the President of Medical D-Tect-Or in 2005. Medical D-Tect-OR has created a “retained foreign object detection system” that utilizes a wand in the operating room to locate lap sponges, gauze sponges, operating room towels and surgical instruments following surgical procedures. Garrett has an extensive and successful medical background in the development, distribution and marketing of numerous innovative products in a variety of disciplines.

Mr. Bolks is also an Eagle Scout and current Assistant Scout Master for Troop 10 in Tulsa, Ok. He is very active with his church working in both the children’s ministry as well as an alter counselor. He is married to Roxanne and they have two children, Ryan 14 and Brie 12.
