(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, July 20, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Some residents of in the western and southern parts of Osage County are going door to door casing homes to potentially kidnap young children. While the Sheriff’s Office says the allegations are only speculations, police and detectives are investigating the several claims made to their office.
The Jefferson City Police Department are also working with the Osage County Sheriff’s office, and has confirmed there is a group of business people in Capitol City with valid licenses selling educational materials, but it has not been confirmed if they are the same group operating in Osage County.
On Wednesday morning, The OCSD released a statement on their Facebook page on the matter. According to the office, their post was to “dispel rumors”, but wanted to let the public know of potential criminal activity, because there have been legitimate claims of people lurking in neighborhoods and backyards. While the Sheriff’s office does not want to create alarm, it urges residents to communicate with them if they see anything suspicious.
According to Southwestern Advantage, an education materials distributor, there are several door-to-door salespeople working in the mid-Missouri area, all of which have licenses to do business. Most of them are college students as part of a summer sales and leadership program. Those students are carrying Southwestern Advantage I.D. badges and carry company backpacks and material.
Concerned residents are asked to see proper credentials if the students do not first show their badges,as they are required to visibly carry them with them. If a person says they are selling educational materials and have no identification badge, call the police immediately.
