(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, August 03, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Kenneth Goldsmith, an American educator and poet has asked people from around the globe to send selections of content form their favorite website to the LABOR gallery to create a collaborative display. Though thousands of submissions are not quite representative of the entire internet, the mount of papers at the gallery is quite an impressive sight according to CBC Radio.
Originally, Goldsmith’s intention was to pay a tribute to the late Aaron Swartz. Swartz was the co-founder of the popular forum website Reddit, who killed himself earlier this year after threats that he could serve up to 35 years in prison for allegedly publicised 14 million documents from a paywall protected online journal, Jstor.
To honor him, the installation of printed out internet content aims to emulate the sheer enormity of Swartz’ effort, and to help show the incomprehensibility of the internet, and how vast and overwhelming it can be, a wealth of information that, according to Kenneth Goldsmith, everyone has the right to access.
