(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, August 23, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- A new infograph has just been released on the life and career of Roman Polanksi, one of the world’s most famous and elite directors. Polanski has been making films for almost 60 years, in Poland, France, the United Kingdom and United States. He is considered to be one of the very few international directors and filmmakers who has inspired a diverse range of directors in the field over the years.
According to the new infograph, released by the Roman Polanski.tv website, The Coen brothers, Wes Anderson, David Fincher, Wes Craven, Atom Egoyan, Abel Ferrara and Darren Aronofsky have all made works inspired by Polanski’s work throughout his career.
Polanksi once said “I want people to go to the movies. I am the man of the spectacle I am playing”. He was born in France, but his family moved to Poland just three years before World War II. After his family survived the holocaust, he began diving into the cinema industry. He attended school in Poland and received his film degree from the National Film School in Lodz.
He took up acting and debuted Andrjez Wajda’s Pokelenie. In 1955, he directed his first film, Rower, which was a semi-autobiographical piece of work. His psychological thriller, Repulsion, won him both his first FIPRESCI prize and the Silver Berlin Bear-Extraordinary Jury Prize at the 15th Berlin International Film Festival.
He was nominated for 23 awards from the Berlin Film Festival to the Academy of of Motion Pictures and Sciences and Golden Globe Awards to European Film Awards and the Academies des Artes, ranging from 1963 to 2011. He won every award he was nominated for except four.
