Long Islanders are in search of the perfect pumpkin and are choosing White Post Farms Fall Festival as a destination point. Families return every year to choose their pumpkin from a pumpkin field filled with hundreds of pumpkins. Visitors can be seen, pulling their hand-picked pumpkin alongside a small child in a red wagon.
The Sousana family have been coming to the farm for the past 10 years. "It always amazes me to see just how creative children become, when given a vegetable and some grass," said Ryan Sousana, "their imagination has no limits. There is just so much to see at the Fall Farm Festival, yet all the kids want to do is go pumpkin picking. It always blows me away to find such a spacious farm for great pumpkin picking in Long Island."
Thousands of visitors come from everywhere to visit this Long Island farm during the festival. The Fisher family has come pumpkin picking from as far as Pennsylvania and they usually stay the weekend and come both days. "We really enjoy the festival and we really like taking in all the action at a slow pace," said Ryan Fisher, "the farm has a great vibe and the people here are just so nice."
Children are free to explore their talents. Once they have picked their pumpkin, they can mosey on over to the pumpkin painting station and create their masterpiece. Should they tire of painting, they can choose from one of 5 different shows that run throughout the day. The shows include a magician dressed as a clown, the Great Stage show - children come on stage and sing and dance with Rodeo Ricky and his friends. Another popular show is the racing piggies of Hambone Express, a live game show and the unforgettable flying dog show.
There is fresh corn on the cob prepared at the festival as well as fresh baked goods and many other delicious treats to munch on throughout the day.
White Post Farms of Long Island offers much more than pumpkin picking throughout the year. It is also a Long Island birthday party favorite and offers exciting activities like pony rides, cuddling with velveteen rabbits, hand and bottle-feeding farm animals, a bird aviary and much more.
