(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, November 14, 2013 ) Detroit, Michigan – The Detroit Doors Tribute Band has been included in a busy schedule of events throughout Metro Detroit and in Windsor, Canada. They have also been the subject on 100.7 The Rock radio on the hour every hour before their major concert appearance for top fundraiser performances most notably a rehab center. The band has also been featured recently on NME, (New Music Express) as well as CBS Money Watch. The group has been banging out a considerable amount of headlines in MLive in the name of social causes.
Mike “Chizzy” Chisholm, has been behind a lot of fundraising initiatives where he has raised money Karmanos Cancer Institute, the Detroit Humane Society and even famous bullying cases, ( see Kathleen Edwards). The Edwards case is of particular importance as it deals with Facebook cyber bullying. The bully in this case was a 33 year old woman who was a neighbor of the 9 year old Edwards who later suffered and died from a rare brain disease. Chisholm didn’t take any personal compensation from the fundraising efforts.
Although that is somewhat remarkable that doesn’t stop further harassment from bizarre online publications such as the online – “The Stranger – Line Out” which is a blog from Seattle. The disparaging and juvenile attack online doesn’t offer any solutions but distinctly criticizes social involvement. “This is odd commentary coming from such a destructive music scene like Seattle – where one of its major heroes committed suicide and celebrates drug use” says the bands manager, Ted Cantu. Detroit is a completely different animal when it comes to music promotion and a lot of the art scene runs along side of fundraising events and non-profit organizations.” The subject in the comment refers to Kurt Cobain of the defunct introverted Seattle offering, Nirvana.
Recently, there was another tragedy in Metro Detroit’s Indy art scene with the vandalism of the Heidelberg Project. This makeshift art village is assembled out of spare lumber and dilapidated houses. One of the houses was deliberately set on fire. The project is the subject of world wide acclaim and its creator Tyree Guyton has been the subject of many written articles. The building that was destroyed was the “House of Soul” and the grounds of the Heidelberg has deep meaning to the independent art community. The Detroit Doors Tribute Band is in the planning stages of doing a series of performances to benefit the loss. Cantu says, “We are here to serve, as well as entertain.” About Detroit Reimagined:
