But reviews on Amazon, on online forums and indeed on Blue's site itself shows that customers struggle to work out how to attach the clamp to their microphone.

So, why is a pop filter necessary for microphones? A pop filter is just a device consisting of a frame, a metal or nylon mesh, and a clamp to attach it to the equipment. The mesh, which can be a single mesh or a double mesh like the Auphonix one, causes the air from strong "plosive" consonants to be dispersed.
If this is not done then sounds like P and B, which cause a sharp burst of air when expressed, hit the microphone quite hard and can cause an unpleasant thumping or thudding sound. A pop filter, properly positioned, can eliminate these problematic plosives, resulting in a much cleaner audio recording.
Nolan commented, "Recording artists and radio stations use pop filters, because they know the difference they make. Even though there are many amateur recording artists around, people doing podcasts or creating their own YouTube or Facebook channels, it doesn't mean they need to have amateur-sounding recordings".
