(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, July 23, 2014 ) Detroit, Michigan – The king of parody is back with a look at alternative rock and modern day lifestyles. Weird Al Yankovic has been cranking out volumes of music over the years taking comedic pot shots at such musical heavy hitters as Nirvana, Michael Jackson and Madonna. The quirky humor blends in well with this new modern take on rock music via The Pixies. There is a heavy Black Francis sound to this new track called, “First World Problems” and it lets the people know that it is alright to laugh. In fact, it is also alright to have fun and that is what the record is all about.
Weird Al is complaining in this video about pixels going out on the tablet, forgetting the gardeners name and buying too many groceries for the double sized refrigerator. The look has changed quite a bit and Weird Al is sporting a blond dutch boy wig of some sort and has ditched the glasses. Apparently Yankovic went through a lasik procedure some years back. The track comes from a new album called, “Mandatory Fun” and it is very humorous and right on time with its observations.
There is rage over not having enough foam on a latte and batteries going out on a sonic toothbrush and more outrageous silliness. Detroit based, Hot Metro Finds takes a look at the video first hand and shares some interesting stories about running into Al on the streets of New York in the 80’s. The popular news site shares insights on what it was like to see Weird Al in Manhattan and also open up for the Monkees in 1987. It is those little tid bits of information that brings the comedy legend that is Weird Al down to earth. The site takes the time to tell the back story of its subjects as well as deliver refreshing news and insight.
The jokes are relevant to what is happening today and that is part of the fun. People can relate to the no gluten cookie varieties out there as well as the wi-fi jokes. The overreaction to everyday scenarios going wrong are dead on center and this is the most enjoyable parody done by Weird Al in years.
