(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 22, 2014 ) Chicago, IL – The last official week of Summer 2014 brings mixed feelings into the marketplace. Retail stores are scrambling and rushing to put up Halloween promotional items. Michigan stores are even rushing Christmas promotions in their retail stores. Meanwhile, the Alternative rock music fans in Chicago are saying, “Not so fast” as Riot Fest 2014 rolls into Chicago’s famous Humboldt Park for a three day music festival. Thousands of fans flock to Chicago to see some of the biggest acts in Alternative music today including Weezer, The Cure, Janes Addiction, and some indie bands including Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears and Circa Survive.
Detroit based Hot Metro Finds is covering the three day event and has posted stage notes, on location observations and even set lists of the bands performances. The festival is a blend of the old and the new with classic 70’s punk acts like Television, Patti Smith, The Stiff Little Fingers, The Cure, and modern acts like the Dropkick Murphys, Chumped, Social Distortion, Weezer , Samhain, and many more.
Henry Rollins will be doing an open panel on the recent Pussy Riot situation on a spoken word stage setting. There will be a total of seven stages. This is the largest rock festival out of a series of three with the others taking place in Denver, and Toronto. While the other cities are only lasting for two days the Riot Fest in Chicago lasted for a total of three days. The reviews contain notes on weather conditions, interesting ongoing interactions between the fans the performers and music reviews.
One of the ongoing problems during the festival is the thick, goopy, clay like mud that appeared after the rainfall. This rough terrain was enough to physically pull shoes off of some of the unsuspecting fans and leaving them barefoot during the Saturday night performances. There is also notes on the last night of the festival with The Cure, Weezer and the Primus show which attracted an overcrowding situation to some of the stages due to the placement of the carnival rides.
