(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 24, 2014 ) Ogden, UT --- Scotty Haze is close to finishing up his third, and by far his best, CD – but he needs a little help from his friends.
And that’s more than appropriate since he has done so much to support local music talent in Utah. Haze, whose real surname is Heseltine, hires young musicians to be in his band and perform on his CD, and is a constant source of encouragement.
“The music business is rough,” said Haze, a veteran of the local music scene. “It can get people down and I’ve seen some young people get knocked down so far that they don’t want to do it anymore. I try to encourage young people and let them know that there will be ups and downs, but don’t give up.”
He certainly hasn’t given up and has taken great pains to make this CD, aptly titled Still in the Game, his best yet. It’s a country-folk-rock album of finely-crafted songs with some of the top area musicians in his backing band.
“I want to put something together that would be the very best we could do,” Haze said. “It takes a lot to do that. We’ve got producers, engineers, co-writers and people who have helped me put the songs together.”
It also takes money. Haze needs $8,000 to do the final mix and mastering, and then distribute the album. In order to generate this capital, he has launched a Kickstarter campaign, which can be viewed at the Kickstarter site.
Donations of any amount are welcome. For $5, backers will receive a digital download of the title song, “Still in the Game,” prior to the album release. A $15 pledge is good for an autographed copy of the CD.
A $40 contribution is rewarded with a Scotty Haze T-shirt plus the autographed CD. And if you live within 250 miles of Ogden, you can get your own Scotty Haze acoustic concert for $250 (up to 30 people).
“Those of you who know me or know my music know that the reason I make it is to put a smile on a face or two,” said Haze. “Over the years I have played a lot of places and met a lot of people, and all of those people are a part of this music. I hope that this Kickstarter campaign will be a way that everyone can be a part of it.”
