(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 28, 2014 ) Chattanooga, Tennessee -- Silicone bakeware is now becoming more popular such as silicone muffin pans. While a lot of people are hesitant to trade their good old metal pans, some adventurous bakers are willing to try something new such as these flexible bakeware.
Chris Moal from Mister Kitchenware, a distributor of quality silicone kitchen products, shares some tips on how to bake successfully using silicone muffin pans.
"When preparing your oven for baking, ensure that the oven is placed in the middle or slightly below the oven. However, it is not recommended that silicone muffin pans are used over direct flame such as gas burners or hot plates," Moal warns.
Before baking muffins, preheat the oven for at least 30 minutes to give it more time to reach the necessary temperature. "This is a crucial step to baking the perfect muffins but not a lot of people like to do it," continues Moal.
In testing for doneness, a metal cake tester or a toothpick can be inserted and removed into the baked good's center. The toothpick or tester should come out clean when the muffins are done. "However, you must never use sharp objects such as knives in testing the muffins as these can damage the pan's surface," Moal adds.
Another way to test if the muffin is done is to press the muffin top and if it springs back lightly, it should be already done.
After use, it is advised not to use abrasive objects on the pan's surface such as scouring pads. When placing the silicone muffin pan in the dishwasher, the pan may have white film on its surface. This is actually detergent residue, which can be removed by rinsing the pan with warm water.
