(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, December 19, 2014 ) Stockholm, Sweden -- The Holy Fathers of St. Katrina by the Sea, The Swedish Monks who rocked the musical World with "Healing Chants" - the first polyphonic Gregorian Chant CD have now revealed how it came to be. And how it relates to their forthcoming CD.
"Originally, we had no plans to make a CD" explained Brother Bengt, the Monks choirmaster. "Those 'songs',as you would call them, are hymns that our fundamental to our daily practices. We couldn't imagine that Gregorian voices would appeal to the World at large. However, after hearing a cassette recorded by one of our faithful, we were persuaded to professionally record them."
Brother Bengt continued : "It was an interesting experience for us, with microphones and cables all around in the monastery. Which, truthfully, made us more than a little nervous. After all, we're not professional singers ! But, as the sessions progressed we gradually became more comfortable with the progress."
Reacting to the impact of the CD, Brother Bengt had this to say : "To say we were shocked by the popularity of Healing Chants would be an understatement ! We couldn't comprehend how so many people were touched by the hymns....but, of course we were pleased that they were...even though it was clearly not their appreciation of the Chant Music text; which, as you'll remember was in Latin."
However, the Holy Fathers New CD, now being recorded, will not be in Latin. Brother Bengt explains why :
"Although we were immensely gratified with the way the World embraced "Healing Chants", we felt that there would have been a..how shall I say it....'deeper' appreciation of the music if the text had been more widely understood. After all, Latin is not a popular or current language. For that reason, our new CD - 'Peace Pilgrim ' will be in English."
Brother Bengt concluded : «Certainly every age in history regards itself as the most troubled....because that is the only one it knows.....however,we feel that the amount of strife, unrest, and inhumanity now present is, sadly, exceptional .
Now, more than ever, to paraphrase an old pop song 'What the World needs now is Peace' . Not just for some - but for everyone. Inner Peace. Which of course is where Peace on Earth must start.' Peace Pilgrim ' is our contribution. And hopefully, will as John Lennon sang, help "Give Peace a Chance."
