Lost Camera Found At Sea Months Later With Photos Intact

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, March 06, 2015 ) Nottingham, Nottinghamshire -- Chalk another one up for the power of social media. Australian Steve Carmody recently found a Go Pro camera and took to Facebook to find its owner. The camera itself was destroyed, but the memory stick survived and Carmody hoped to deliver what he called "32 GB of precious memories" to its owner.

Chris Hesford, 22, lost the camera while kayaking in Byron Bay in New South Wales more than six months before it was found by Carmody in a riverbed 60 miles away. The memory stick contained photos from Hesford's travels all over the world. Two weeks after Carmody's initial Facebook post, Hesford was located and his memory stick was sent to him.

"This story has a happy ending," says Gareth Baines, CEO of Floatogear, the company that produces the Floatostuff Waterproof Camera Float. "But we could have saved Mr. Hesford more than six months of disappointment and probably saved the camera, too."

Floatostuff's camera float was designed to prevent accidents exactly like the one Carmody experienced.

"The Floatostuff waterproof camera float is bright yellow and buoyant," says Baines. "Items like cameras, phones and keys are protected because the float is highly visible and remains afloat when dropped from, for instance, a kayak in Byron Bay."

Amazon reviewers seem to concur with Baines' claims, with one customer stating:
"This is great! We lost our camera in the water this weekend but we didn't have to worry about it as the float just kept it at the surface. We turned the boat around and instantly saw the bright yellow object floating in the water. So convenient and really saves us from having to buy another camera. We're water people so I'm sure we'll be getting lots of use out of it."

The Floatostuff waterproof camera float is currently offered at a special price of $14.99 through the end of March. It's available on Amazon and Prime members receive free shipping.
