Each year in early June, tens of thousands of music lovers from throughout the country flock to the suburbs of Washington, D.C. to attend this weekend of cool jazz and soul -- The Capital Jazz Fest. Started in 1993, this multi-day, multi-stage outdoor music festival, which attracts music lovers from 44 states, is more than just a concert, it's an event! It's a place to people-watch, eat, drink, shop, mingle, relax, soak in the rays, make new friends, and of course hear some of the coolest jazz and soul music on the planet!
The 23rd annual Capital Jazz Fest takes place June 5-7, 2015 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland and will feature nearly 30 national acts on two big stages.The Pavilion Stage will feature contemporary jazz and adult contemporary artists, whereas The Symphony Woods Stage showcases soul music artists from the old-school and the new. This year's talent lineup includes Kenny G, Eric Benet, Roy Ayers, Boney James, Naturally 7, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Chrisette Michele, Najee, Michael McDonald, Earl Klugh, Meshell Ndegeoceo, and many more, plus our Friday Night Soul kickoff event starring Maze featuring Frankie Beverly andIndia Arie, plus our annual "Catch A Rising Star" showcase of up-and-coming artists.

The company started in the summer of 1998. They started as a 6 cap and 4 t-shirt design company that focused on producing high quality product because they noticed that most black history merchandise was of cheap quality. They felt that as rich as the history of black people is,they should match that richness with high quality product. They now have over 64 caps and 28 shirt designs. They started selling product to family and friends, then to coworkers at their jobs, and eventually across the country at festivals, conventions, churches and athletic events. Their goal has remained the same from the start: Produce a high quality of product that matches the richness of the history. One of their early slogans was that they do this for "The brothers that played but never got paid". This was for the Negro League players that never received the respect and recognition that was given to the major league players.
