(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, June 18, 2015 ) Manhattan, KS - Sinatra, Rat Pack, Top Hits from the fifties and sixties virtuoso, Michael Carluccio literally stormed into the Midwest’s “Little Apple” June 6 to perform at the renown Kimble Castle during the wedding reception for Dr. and Mrs. Charles L. Gillum, Jr.
Dr. Gillum found the Las Vegas Legends singer on the internet in March and confirmed the arrangements with Michael with a couple of email messages and a phone call.
The Manhattan booking was the start of Carluccio’s Heartland Tour 2105. More stops on this summer’s tour include Mokena, Illinois, Hayward, Wisconsin, Traverse City and Tawas, Michigan.
Specializing in audiology, and lifelong resident of Manhattan, Dr. Gillum contacted Michael Carluccio to perform at the June wedding and reception with one request: “Can you sing I Cross My Heart by George Strait?”
Reportedly, perhaps, just out of curiosity, Dr. Gillum had previously contacted country music’s legend personally. Strait replied one million for the groom’s favorite tune.
The multi-talented Carluccio accepted the booking and, graciously promised Gillum that it would cost a lot less than one million. The special request was for Michael to wear a costume resembling George Strait and enter unnoticed at the side of the altar. As the bride entered the aisle, the music was cued and Michael began the couple’s favorite song, I Cross My Heart.
“I couldn’t afford the real George Strait,” bemoaned the Manhattan doctor. Yet, as the guests approached the host after the ceremony, Dr. Gillum was ecstatic when he was asked, “How did you get George Strait to come here and sing?”
At the reception later that evening, Carluccio changed into his Las Vegas Legends costume and began his performance with the party’s favorite Sinatra and Rat Pack songs. Throughout the entire performance, he convinced the audience of his versatility and skillful command to cross over from popular to country western.
Carluccio has appeared in front of Hollywood’s elite at the Golden Apple Awards, the Las Vegas MGM Grand, the Skyview Terrace and Tropicana stages, the St. Louis Fox Theater, New York’s Central Park Amphitheater and the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the Andiamo’s Night Club in Michigan.
Like a pendulum, the Las Vegas Tribute Show, moves back and forth through the late 1950’s, the 60’s and 70’s using Michael’s ‘thousand voices’ from Frank Sinatra to the persona of the Rock and Roll era: Neil Diamond, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, George Jones, Tom Jones, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Marty Robins, Willie Nelson, and, of course, the King – Elvis Presley!
