The Signature from Tibet is a thought-provoking story that follows the lives, trials and tribulations of its four primary characters, separated from their loved-ones and their homelands: a Scottish soldier, a pregnant Tibetan nomadic woman, a baby girl and her twin brother. The book links their individual journeys from Scotland to Tibet--and from Tibet to Scotland--over several generations. This "heart-warming passionate" book describes the physical, emotional, and spiritual highs and lows of the characters, and follows the twists and turns of their often mysterious lives. Ultimately, prophesies, the cycle of life, birth, death, and the afterlife, meditation, divination, reincarnation and spiritual "coincidences" shape this beguiling novel. In The Signature from Tibet it is by sheer serendipity that the author arrives at Samye Ling, the first Buddhist Centre in the West, where Alison becomes involved in an eerie encounter with a crow and a surreal meeting with monastery founder, Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche, who offers to oversee Alison's project (a colour, aura, and natural healing centre), and also grants permission to open a Dharma Centre--a rare, unprecedented occurrence indeed.
Astonishingly, soon after the visit to Samye Ling, the author's uncle presented Alison with a 1974 Scottish Tour Programme of His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, which has a handwritten message on its cover. Subsequently it is Akong Rinpoche who recognises the Tibetan handwriting and signature to be that of His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, declaring that the Karmapa's Tour Programme is a rare relic to the Buddhist community. On the Rinpoche's suggestion, the author then travels to Gyuto Monastery in India to show His Holiness the 17th Karmapa the signed tour programme who, upon seeing the document, suggests that Alison, "Put this tour programme in a book for the world to see."
Essentially, a crow, Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche, His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, and His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, have guided and moulded this novel.
