(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, March 18, 2016 ) Miami, FL -- According to Miami New Times, an autopsy of Alex Omes, the co-founder for the massive dance-music festival Ultra, revealed several drugs in his system at the time of his death. Omes died on January 12, 2015, just before his lawsuit against Ultra was due to go to trial. Despite some suspicions, a homicide investigation never took place and the autopsy did not determine any specific cause of death. The exam did find amphetamines, ketamine, cocaine, and traces of GHB, which, while present, could not be proven to have caused a fatal overdose. Following Omes' death, the trial against Ultra moved forward with his brother at the helm. The trial ended in Ultra's favor, but an appeal is in the works.
As a top drug treatment facility in Miami, Miami Drug Rehab is on the front line of the battle to end the substance abuse epidemic in South Florida. Each day, the center provides addiction treatment in Miami to people from all walks of life; however, Miami Drug Rehab can attest to the prolific use of illicit substances throughout the music scene. While it certainly doesn't dictate that all those into the Miami music scene are abusing drugs or alcohol, it's an unfortunate trend that the community must address.
A representative of Miami Drug Rehab comments,
"This tragic loss of life struck the music scene deeply; Alex Omes is sorely missed by those who knew him and those who enjoy the festival he helped to found. Unfortunately this isn't a rare occurrence in the music scene; somehow using drugs has become an accepted practice in concerts, clubs, and festivals. While people attend these events looking to have fun, it's important to understand how easily that pleasure can turn into tragedy. The momentary high is never worth the risk of revocable damage or death."
