(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, October 07, 2016 ) Orlando, FL -- It is a well researched and proven fact today that music can easily affect someone's mood. The effects are of course quite different, depending on the particular style and beat of music. Listening to a rock and roll song gets many people going for the day, while a soothing melody can often help many people relax. Sound is of course, also very important to the communication of animals, and various types of music can have varying effects upon their behavior as well.

Whether it's a yip, a bark or a howl, dogs use sound to communicate. When one dog starts howling, pretty soon it seems that all of the dogs in the neighborhood are responding. That is how they 'talk' to each other. Dogs can differentiate between various pitches (frequencies), and can generally hear frequencies of a much higher pitch than most humans can.

Since sound is very important to many creatures, music can affect them in similar manners to the effects that music exerts upon human beings. Loud, thrashing music can agitate and rile up many animals, while classical or easy listening music can have a soothing effect and relax them. For example, many dog owners have experienced their dog's reactions to various styles of music. Mankind can't be sure of all the reasons that their dog might even howling when they listen to certain types of music, but we have to assume at least the dog knows why it is affected in that manner. It's even possible that some music reminds him of a form of doggy communication.

An Alaskan Husky breed of dog named Shadow, many years ago was observed by many people, doing something that was very attention grabbing and very funny to see. If the owners of the dog would put on a CD by Roy Orbison, a very popular singing artist of the past, Shadow would go running up to the house and put his ears close to the door, so he could hear better. He would then howl along with Roy! It was obvious to all that he was not at all disturbed by the music, but rather he seemed to LOVE IT! He just enjoyed singing along!

Modern research has revealed that animals can identify different rhythms, and musical patterns in songs. It's no wonder that even some birds can be taught to sing along with actual tunes.

Like dogs, cows also prefer classical music, and will even produce more milk when listening to a relaxing composition. There have been studies which have shown that horses can synchronize the pace of their trot to the rhythm of music playing in the background.

Some animals such as birds and whales even sing their own complex songs, and make various special sounds to communicate with each other. Some of the sounds do have the appearance of actual music. It could be that humans aren't the only ones that are able to make melodies and enjoy them as well.

We as humans therefore have come to recognize that the inherent nature of music is shared by humans and animals alike. It can be very beneficial, if listening to the right kinds of music, and can aid and help in many areas of life. Music therapy has become very popular in the past century and the healing power of music is being explored and investigated for more understanding.

There are many cases of veterinary hospitals using music to soothe and calm the animals from getting anxious and nervous in the high stress environment of a veterinarian's office or even an animal shelter.
