(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 08, 2010 ) PORT ANGELES, Wash. July 7, 2010- Cycling enthusiasts head to the Olympic Peninsula for the first annual Ride the Hurricane event August 1st. This event will be a 12 mile recreational ride up Olympic National ParkÂ’s stunning Hurricane Ridge Road. Starting in mass from the entrance station at 6AM, cyclists will have the road to themselves as Olympic National Park has agreed to close the famous Hurricane Ridge Road to vehicle traffic until noon. Cyclists will follow a pilot car, with roughly 15-20 riders per car, back down. Beverages and snacks will await bikers at the end of the ride, along with certificates of accomplishment. Spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains will serve as the backdrop for this possibly once-in-a-lifetime ride. For its first year, the park has limited participation to 200 riders.
Cost to participate in the event is $25 with payment required by July 15. Checks should be made to Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce and sent to 121 E. Railroad Ave. Port Angeles WA. 98362.
