The gala ceremony will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre on Saturday, April 30, 2011, 5:30pm.

The Harry Jerome Awards are an annual celebration of African Canadian achievements and pays tribute to outstanding and inspirational individuals who are true role models in the community. Established in the memory of Harry Jerome – a distinguished African Canadian Olympic athlete, scholar and social advocate – the awards have recognized over 300 exceptional people from across the country since their inception in 1983.
Award categories include Academics; Arts; Athletics; Business; Community Service; Entertainment; Health Sciences; Leadership; Media; Professional Excellence; Technology & Innovation; Young Entrepreneur. Additionally, four special awards were chosen by the BBPA Board of Directors including the Lifetime Achievement Award; the PresidentÂ’s Award; the Trailblazer Award and for the first time, the Diversity Award.
