What began as a series of titles that failed to generate any significant income, eventually morphed into a full time business for Valentine. She blogs about her self-publishing experiences at That Internet Marketing Thing, where she recently gave readers an inside look at her ebook sales figures for August 2011.
“You often hear about self-published fiction authors like John Locke and Amanda Hocking, who have both both sold millions of Kindle ebooks. But there’s an even bigger ebook publishing universe for nonfiction authors,” said Valentine. “I don’t write fiction and I haven’t published on Kindle yet, but I am able to make a full-time living writing and selling ebooks.”
In her recent blog post Valentine details how her ebook income enabled her to take time away from her online business and mourn the unexpected death of her grandmother. For this reason she praised ebooks for their passive income ability.
“When I needed to take off a couple of weeks, my ebooks still paid the bills,” said Valentine. “Very few writing related businesses can consistently do that.”
