MorrisonÂ’s Lodge reaches out to rafters of all stripes with specialty tours

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 03, 2012 ) MERLIN, ORE – With the 2012 rafting season just a few months away, the staff at Morrison’s Rogue River Lodge are ready to roll out a host of specialty trips designed to help everyone get the very most out of their whitewater experience.
Each of these specialty trips is designed to round out the Rogue River experience, giving travelers a chance to experience the landscape and river in ways rarely available through guided tours. The trips are geared toward foodies, hikers, and explorers, and are open for booking now. Discounted rates are available for members of the press intending to do a story.

Whitewater, Wine, Chocolate & Cheese
For culinary experts, MorrisonÂ’s will pair with local companies in September on a three-day Whitewater, Wine, Chocolate & Cheese tour. On this tour, rafters will sample fine local wines, chocolates, and cheeses at lunch and dinner. These culinary treats are all local, and are presented by the Rogue Creamery, Lillie belle Farms, and wineries across Southern Oregon. They are presented with meals prepared using the freshest ingredients by MorrisonÂ’s guides, who have the culinary knowledge to teach travelers what they need to know about the fine flavors they are enjoying.
Between meals, travelers will experience the best thrills the mighty Rogue has to offer. They will paddle the RogueÂ’s rapids with the oversight of MorrisonÂ’s veteran guides and stay each night in riverside lodges with clean linens, private baths, and comfortable accommodations.

Raft-supported hiking
Generally speaking, a four-day wilderness trip in the Pacific Northwest entails sleeping on the ground. Not so with MorrisonÂ’s raft-supported hiking trip. Designed by veteran local guides, the trip gives travelers an intimate experience with one of OregonÂ’s wildest and most pristine rivers while providing all the comforts of luxury hotels.
Travelers will hike the trails along the banks of the Rogue each day and sleep in rustic riverside lodges. Hot meals are prepared by the lodgesÂ’ expert chefs, and luggage and equipment are transported down the river by raft. That means hikers can bring pack along their favorite drinks, snacks, or musical instruments without having to carry the weight each day on the trail.
Clients will cover 41 miles over four days, and will see some of the best scenery Oregon and the Rogue River have to offer. The forest around the Rogue is teeming with life, and hikers are known to see osprey, eagles, deer, and even bear along the trip.

Explore the canyons
For travelers who want a chance to truly venture off the beaten path, Morrison’s offers its “Canyons and Creeks” package, which is available on request. This trip is highly customizable, and provides opportunities to explore the countless creeks, canyons, and punch-bowl features that line the Rogue. For those travelers who always find themselves wondering what’s just around the river bend, this trip offers the chance to find out.

About MorrisonÂ’s Rogue River Lodge
Perched on the banks of OregonÂ’s Rogue River, MorrisonÂ’s Rogue River was founded in 1946 to help anglers bag the riverÂ’s famous Steelhead. The lodge remains family-owned, but has since expanded to offer whitewater rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, and horseback riding. MorrisonÂ’s is a premier destination for conferences and destination weddings, and has been featured twice in Bon Appetit Magazine for its world-class cuisine.
