(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 11, 2012 ) New York, NY -- Underwater Sunshine is the upcoming 2012 studio album by the popular alternative rock band Counting Crows. Instead of creating all new music however, they chose to do cover versions of some of their favorite songs by bands both old and new spanning five decades. This is their first full-length album release in four years following their 2008 album Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings.
The new Counting Crows album features fifteen tracks and were produced by them along with Shawn Dealey. This is the first time they released an album without being backed by a major label, and according to lead singer Adam Duritz, “we now have the creative freedom to release albums like this and offer our fans more music than ever.”
The new Counting Crows CD features tracks written by artists such as Big Star, Gram Parsons, Tender Mercies, Kasey Anderson and The Faces. The band commissioned fans to create the album artwork and plans to tour the entire year. The official Underwater Sunshine Counting Crows CD release date is set for April 10, 2012.
