(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 05, 2012 ) MCCALL, Idaho- McCall SummerFest 2012, July 25-29, will be a five-day festival of chamber music and jazz concerts held in McCall, Idaho. Led by the distinguished Maestro Yaacov Bergman of New York City, the 40-piece orchestra will include Gerald Robbins, a Van Cliburn award-winning classical pianist, Ted Rosenthal, renowned jazz pianist from Julliard, and Sarah Parnicky, an internationally-performing soprano from Southern California. Those attending will be treated to a variety of chamber music, including classical, jazz, and pops, all performed by prominent regional and national musicians.
On July 25, McCall SummerFest will open with a reception at the Pavillion at Shore Lodge, one of McCallÂ’s premier resorts. Guests will have the chance to mingle with the musicians and hear a sampler concert containing selections from the full concerts and jazz ensembles to be presented later in the week.
The main event, held Friday July 27th, is a “Baroque Bash” featuring works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Arvo Part for soprano, trumpet, violin, cello, and solo piano with full orchestra.
True to Maestro BergmanÂ’s desire to involve the entire community, he will present a free family concert on the morning of Saturday July 28, with narration for children and their parents. Performed at the LDS Church this offering will take attendees through an exciting tour of the instruments of the orchestra.
Daytime SummerFest activities will feature mini chamber music samplers and full orchestra rehearsals in various venues around McCall. These performances will be open to the public free of change. In addition to traditional performance settings, some music samplings will be held at parks and on street corners around town. There are plans to conduct a Master Class for Piano with Gerald Robbins.
The festival will conclude July 29 will the “Fantabulous Mozart” at the Community Congregational Church. This program will feature the beloved composer’s stunningly beautiful and daringly virtuosic concert arias for soprano and orchestra, a concerto for violin, and his last piano concerto played by Gerald Robbins and the orchestra.
