(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 06, 2012 ) Newport Beach - The song has already been featured on Fail Blog, Buzzfeed, UniqueDaily and other social websites. Meet Daniel Bijan, the producer for the viral smash, “Old School Coconut.”
At the time of this writing, the video has already amassed a staggering 35,758 views (and growing) in just about a week. And itÂ’s being shared by Facebook and Twitter users at an even more astonishing rate.
Even though Daniel is already an established multi-instrumentalist whoÂ’s worked with hundreds of local acts, the viral phenomenon over his video could now attract mainstream attention. So why is this one video in particular creating such rabid mania?
Daniel, reflecting for a moment, explains it in simple terms, “I had this crazy idea: What if I can record a song using only a Coconut?" He later adds, “"I'm lounging around staring at a coconut that my folks brought back from their vacation in Cuba, and it just came to me. I ran into the kitchen, picked up a couple of wooden spoons and the rest is history."
After recording, filming, and editing the video in just a few hours, he says he knew he had something “special” and proceeded to upload it to YouTube. In eager anticipation, his initial thoughts were confirmed: the video took off.
Daniel remarks, “In the past, there have been times where I've spent 2 weeks tweaking a song or video and would never know how people would react. But with this coconut video, I felt I had something quite special, that no one has ever done before, so I quickly uploaded to YouTube. I was amazed at the response.
People began to share it on Facebook and Twitter and a few hundred views turned into a few thousand rather quickly.”
Could Daniel become the next Justin Bieber? Daniel has a more modest answer when looking at the future.
He responds, “"I'm really anxious to see what other unique songs I can come up with using common household items. It's kind of funny that I'm being recognized more for my coconut playing skills, than the thousands of songs I produced in the past. But I'm totally cool with that."
Daniel Bijan started his interest in music at an early age. By the age of 5, he was fascinated by the drums. At age 10, he began taking guitar lessons and began learning how to play the piano.
He recorded his first demo on a four track cassette recorder at the early age of ten, and slowly progressed. He produced countless tracks for many artists in Canada, and later moved down to Los Angeles and set up a studio in the heart of the city. He has worked with Trevor Horn (Seal), Black Elvis, and has produced a remix which is on a Latin Grammy Nominated Album for the artist Maraca.
The single “This Is How We Party” by Daniel Bijan charted nationally on the top of many record pools reaching top 10 in many cities across the US.
He continues his passion for music today, recording and releasing videos.
