However, for Fort Worth native Jennifer Brown-Thomas, a slip of paper simply wasn’t enough. Unlike most graduates, Jennifer doffed her cap with the unlikeliest of credentials – a self-written and directed feature length movie and an e-book based on the screenplay.
However, for those who know Jennifer, this ability to achieve comes as no surprise. In fact, many regard her as one of life’s anomalies.
Born and bred in Fort Worth, Jennifer began writing short stories and poems before she started formal education. Friends and family noticed her natural flair for penning the perfect – and encouraged her as she refined her ability to captivate readers with each story she told. Out of nowhere, and with no formal guidance, Jennifer prepared her very own screenplay for ‘Blissful Lies’.
Five short months later, Jennifer found herself directing the movie during September of 2010. Completed in just seventeen days, almost unheard of in the industry, the shoot took Jennifer and her cast to numerous filming locations in Fort Worth, Southlake and Westlake.
With a successful movie seen by Jennifer as only half of her mission, she diligently worked to complete a novel of the story.
Becoming a huge hit among e-book fans, Jennifer knew there was one more piece to fit into the puzzle. Jennifer is today announcing the launch of the printed version of Blissful Lies, which is due to release on June 10th, during a launch party in North Richland Hills.
“With support of friends and family I have been fortunate to be able to dream big and be successful in my endeavors,” she says. “The experience I have gained at such a young age is invaluable. It just goes to show that anything can be achieved if you put your mind to it.”
Jennifer is extending an invite to the media to join her at the book’s launch party. The event takes place from 15:00 to 18:00 at Anejo Restaurants Patio, 9159 Boulevard 26 (Grapevine Hwy), North Richland Hills, TX 76180.
“There are plenty of surprises up my sleeve. However, I plan to give the printed version of Blissful Lies as big a launch as possible, so for now my focus is on doing exactly that!” Jennifer concludes.
As her 24th birthday rapidly approached, the huge new local talent, Jennifer Brown-Thomas was preparing to film her first independent screenplay starring Emmy winning actress, Leann Hunley of Los Angeles, California.
With the distribution of her first film just around the corner, this young author is making history. Taking the film industry by storm at such a young age has propelled her into a career that is sure to be a success. The married, TCU graduate and mother of one has managed to fill her time with lots of projects. “She’s my whole world,” when asked about her daughter, “she is the reason I’m doing everything I’m doing.” The young mother has multiple projects in the works including the foundation of LBT, Limberis Brown Thomas, an empire she’s building with wardrobe stylist Fanitsa Limberis.
“We’re so excited about the upcoming launch of our fragrance, ‘Blissful,’ and the launch of our children’s clothing line, Kinsley Kouture.” Her first feature film, Blissful Lies, is set to premiere in the upcoming months as she rapidly prepares for the release of novel, Vindictive Grounds, shortly after. “We’ll be heading into pre-production for my next film in the summer months…. 2012 is going to be a busy year…. The best yet!”
Growing up an only child of Tim and Teenia Brown, in Fort Worth, Texas, she found it easy to dream big with the unyielding support of her friends and family. She graduated a year early from Fossil Ridge High School, participated in many sports and volunteered for youth organizations in the area. Now an alumna of Texas Christian University, she is enjoying post-graduate life as both an Author and a Writer/Director.
She has been asked many times how she manages all the projects she has her hands in, often referred to by her friends as “Super Woman”. When asked about this she replied with “Everything worth having is worth fighting for. I may be busy around the clock with my fragrance and clothing line plans and the premiere of Blissful Lies on the horizon, not to mention my amazing daughter…. but everything I’m doing is creating opportunities and happiness for others as well as myself and for that, I don’t mind not sleeping!
