Joining the military at the tender age of 17 she thought even though she had a child at 15 years old she would still make a life for herself and her daughter. Serving 4 years in the military she decided to get out, but when a longterm relationship ended she was struggling with an addiction to prescription drugs and was on the street watching everything she ever owned taken away.
At the age of 22, back home in Jacksonville, F.L. on her mothers couch Gin X decided there has to be a better way, and asked her higher being what should she be doing.
"It was like a dream" Gin X says "all of sudden I wanted to write and everything I wrote I wanted to see. Going to the library and reading everything there was on films, television, and what went on to make them. This southern native decided I want to make a film" and that she did.
She saved up her money working at night ,studied and took courses. In 2008 she incorporated MD&S Entertainment a production company and Gin X made an independent film titled Queen Pin in which she got distribution and a lot of love from her peers.
After that is when she realized her love for film and that writing brought her solace, so she had to pursue this passion. This year she made another film titled “Before My Eyes”, but this time she decided to distribute it her self and keep it cost effective for her audience, by selling it for only a mere $2.99.
Gin X says, “ I reflected back on things I could have done different with my first film. I began to study the business side of things. What I realized was I had the creativity but not the financial intelligence as of yet. I read more on businesses and creating wealth and once again like a dream it just came to me”.
This is the generation of the web so this creative genius has decided to take advantage and digitally self-distribute her film and so you wont have to go to the “bootleg” man she’s only charging $2.99 on the website www.mdsent.com.
Inspiring, ambitious, and truly spiritual she has some advice to the starving artist “ believe in your craft, take control of your business, let it consume your life, and attract your destiny ”. Staying independent has allowed her to keep 100% profit and cater to her audience, which is the working man and woman, living pay check to pay check. Gin X has plans to become an entrepreneur , mogul, and is working on a book and in pre-production for Queen Pin 2.
Her new film “Before My Eyes” reflects on a girl "Stephanie Wilcox" and a guy "Lindsey George" which meet at the age of seven years old.
They come from different lives and immediately become best friends. As the years pass they remain best friends going into their teens, but tragedy hits Lindsey at 16 years old. Lindsey lashes out and channel's his anger to the streets by misbehaving and selling drugs.
Lindsey then decides with friends to rob a bank. Stephanie does not like the path Lindsey is on and their friendship becomes strained and eventually broken. Before things get better they get worse for Lindsey and he gets sent to prison. Eight years later, he’s released and he has to attend a reforming program and see a counselor. When little to his surprise his counselor happens to be Stephanie. These two try to start a new friendship, while the past still seeks revenge.
