James HolmesÂ’ Psychiatrist, requested background check prior to shooting reports Fit2Work.com.au

(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, August 22, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- On Tuesday, Denver television reported that the psychiatrist who was handling James Holmes, the gunman at the Colorado movie theater, told the University of Colorado police to enquire about the student’s background before the 20th July shootings.

Another television station (KMGH-TV) stated that Dr. Lynne Fenton called Colorado police department to ask about Holmes’s background information.

Previously in early June, KMGH reported that Fenton had communicated her worries to university behavioral and assessment team members but they didn’t respond because Holmes already made a decision to leave the university

James was enrolled in University’s Anschutz Medical campus as a Ph.D. student of neuroscience but he informed officials about his withdrawal from the program. He left the program in June.

James Holmes was arrested for the crime of murdering 12 people and injuring 58 people in a cinema during the midnight show of the new Batman movie. He faces 142 counts including 12 counts of first-degree murder.

Neither the police nor Fenton’s lawyers has responded to calls from The Associated Press, who was looking for additional information about the televised reports on Tuesday.

Doug Abraham is the chief of the University of Colorado police force. Both Abraham and Jacque Montgomery (a university spokeswoman) have said that the judge in the case ordered university officials not to talk about it publicly. The order is why they couldn’t comment on Tuesday.

It was said by University of Colorado officials previously that campus police had no contact with Holmes, who enrolled in June 2011.

In that press conference Chief Abraham said to reporters that he doesn’t have any information about Holmes. He also stated that he had never been in contact with Holmes about any matter. Don Elliman, Chancellor of CU-Denver defended the school’s relations with Holmes.

Fenton said that she spoke to a University of Colorado police officer regarding her concerns about Holmes. That university officer was also interviewed by the police about the conversation which was reported by ABC News.

According to police Holmes had been buying explosive materials (mostly over the internet) for months before the shootings. He is alleged to have received shipments at the university as well as in his nearby apartment.
