(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 13, 2012 ) New York, NY - Bring It On: The Musical continues its Broadway run at the St. James Theatre and will do so until next year.
Last May, it was announced that the new stage production revolving around the world of competitive cheerleading would stage a limited engagement run at Broadway from July 12 to October 7. It officially opened last August 1 and proceeded with the shows as scheduled. Its chosen home is the St. James Theatre.
Recently, however, it was announced that the musical’s limited engagement has been extended. As of now, St. James Theatre tickets for all Bring It On shows until the 20th of January 2012 are now available at ACheapSeat.com.
The production launched its North American tour in October of last year. It debuted at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles and completed its tour prior to arriving at Broadway in July. It has so far received several positive reviews from viewers and is expected to sell out tickets even as the run has been extended.
The stage musical adaptation of the popular story features music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda and music by Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt as well as his collaborator Amanda Green. The original book for the musical was written by Tony Award-winning book writer Jeff Whitty.
The musical is directed and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, known for Tony awardee ‘In The Heights’. Musical supervision is courtesy of Tony Award winner Alex Lacamoire.
The cast of the musical includes Adrienne Warren as female lead Danielle, Ryann Redmond, Taylor Louderman, Jason Gotay of ‘Rent’ fame, Elle McLemore, Ariana DeBose of ‘Hairspray’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, and Gregory Haney. Broadway veteran Neil Haskell, who has appeared in West Side Story, 9 to 5, and So You Think You Can Dance, is also onboard as Steven. Kate Rockwell of Legally Blonde, Grease, and You’re the One That We Want is also part of the team as Skylar, while Kylar is played by Janet Krupin.
Cheerleading stunts are courtesy of Antwan Bethea, Danielle Carlacci, Michael Naone-Carter, Courtney Corbeille, Dahlston Delgado, Brooklyn Freitag, Melody Mills, David Ranck, Billie Sue Roe, Sheldon Tucker, and Lauren Whitt.
The venue, St. James Theatre, is located at 246 W. 44th St. Broadway. The venue has been considered as a prime Broadway venue since it was built in 1927. Originally called The Erlanger, after its founder Abraham L. Erlanger, the theatre was renamed after Erlanger died in 1930 and the theatre was turned over to the Astor family, who later sold it to the Shuberts. The theatre has gone through several renovations through the years and has seen several special events and productions on its stage.
