(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 13, 2012 ) Los Angeles, CA - Last July, it was announced that Michael Buble would be part of NBC’s The Voice. Buble was cast as one of the mentors of the team under Blake Shelton. Last September 10, the Grammy award-winning singer will be seen on the show for the first time as The Voice comes back onscreen for its third season.
In an interview shortly after Buble began taping his appearances for the show, the world-renowned crooner revealed that he is ‘a big Blake fan’.
Buble will appear more frequently on the show after the blind auditions, which the show is known for. The blind auditions are used to filter out the contestants and divide the remaining contestants into four teams, namely those belonging to coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton. Once the teams are formed, each team will be assigned mentors, who will help them choose their songs for the final rounds of the competition.
Last season, Kelly Clarkson was chosen as the mentor for Blake’s team. Now, Michael Buble is expected to provide a huge boost to the show’s ratings as his fans await his appearances.
The Voice is one of the most popular singing competitions on TV. Known primarily for its unique format, The Voice, though much younger than The X Factor or American Idol, has managed to bag quite a viewership. The Voice premiered last April 26, 2011 and received a high 18-49 rating for a series premiere.
Before the first season ended, The Voice marked another first among TV-based singing competitions. NBC allowed its fans to vote for their favorite artists by downloading the studio versions of their songs every week from the iTunes store.
Last February 5, The Voice returned for its second season. The premiere was aired right after NBC’s coverage of Super Bowl XLVI.
Last May 13, NBC officially announced the show’s renewal for its third season. All four regular coaches are still part of the show, as well as the involvement of Michael Buble as mentor. His co-mentors also include Mary J. Blige for Adam Levine’s team, Rob Thomas for Cee Lo Green’s team, and Billie Joe Armstrong for Aguilera’s team.
