(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 20, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - Lawyers who are working for the royal family of Britain will be making a criminal complaint against an unnamed photographer who shot photos of Kate, the wife of Prince William, as she was topless and sunbathing on vacation in the South of France. The announcement came Sunday from the office of Prince William.
A civil lawsuit has already been launched against the French magazine 'Closer', which published the controversial shots of the Duchess of Cambridge as she relaxed while on holiday at a private villa which is located in Provence. The palace calls the photographs a “grotesque” abuse of the privacy of William and Kate, and is planning to hit back as hard as possible against those responsible for the publication of the photos.
According to a spokeswoman for the St James office of Prince William, the lawyers for the young royal couple will file a complaint with prosecutors in France against the unidentified photographer responsible for the shots. The spokeswoman went on to say, “The complaint concerns the taking of photographs of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge whilst on holiday and the publication of those photographs in breach of their privacy.”
The French prosecutors will then decide whether or not to launch an investigation into the case, and make criminal charges of wither trespassing or breach of privacy. The lawyers for William and Kate filed an injunction against the publisher of Closer, Madadori, after the magazine published a 26 page spread on the topless photos. The palace does plan to seek damages from the Italian publisher. The Irish Daily Star also published the images. The palace stated that it plans to consider “all proportionate responses.” All British publications have refused to publish the photos, and have joined forces to criticize the invasion of the duchess's privacy.
