(Entertainment-NewsWire.com, September 21, 2012 ) New York, NY – Paul Simon will take to the stage at the Radio City Music Hall on the 4th of October, not only to perform, but also to mark the 25th year of his children’s health foundation ‘Children’s Health Fund’.
The Children’s Health Fund was co-founded by Paul Simon and Irwin Redlener MD in 1987. The organization is now set to celebrate 25 years of bringing health care to homeless kids. Twenty-five years ago, they started providing health care to the homeless in New York City using one Mobile Medical Unit. Now, however, they have 25 programs in place all over the country.
To celebrate this milestone, Paul Simon and the rest of the team will be at the Radio City Music Hall on October 4. The benefit concert will begin at 8:00 PM.
The all-star benefit concert will star several multi-platinum, award-winning musical performers, and will also feature never-before-seen collaborations. As of now, the list of appearances include Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, Ruben Blades and Luba Mason, Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond, Amy Grant and Vince Gill, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Steve Martin, Sting and Trudie Styler, James Taylor and Caroline Taylor, and Stevie Wonder and Aisha Morris.
Reports also say there are other surprise guests prepared for the night.
The evening will also be used to honor people who are especially involved in the organization’s cause, including Simon Fuller, who will receive the Founders Award, and David Pulman PhD of GlaxoSmithKline, who will receive the Corporate Award.
The proceeds of the benefit concert will be used to fund the organization’s programs across the United States and will help homeless children get the health care services they need and deserve.
The Children’s Health Fund regularly holds benefit concerts every year, but this year’s concert is more special and memorable as it will mark the organization’s 25th year.
Co-founder Dr. Irwin Redlener said: “When I started Children’s Health Fund with Paul Simon in 1987, we didn’t know how long we would need mobile medical clinics to care for undeserved children.
